My husband and several people we know have been struck in the head by young Red Shouldered Hawks. All of them have white fluffy curls at the back of their hair. We think that these hawks probably don't see very well, so golfers probably out to where a hat, ribbon or visor with some color. The hawks talons are rather sharp--we treated the cuts with Neosporin until they healed, it took several days.
The funny thing about the incident with my husband was he said "May God strike me dead" about something we were discussing just as the hawk hit. I found it amusing until I found my husband was hurt.
