On my first trip to New York and Ontario, Canada, my husband and I had to go to Niagara Falls, who could miss it. So of course, learning that there was this great whirlpool in the middle of the Niagara River we had to take a hike and play the fabulous Whirlpool Golf Course. They take good advantage of the gardening skills that come out of the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture on the grounds and I admit, for me, it really adds an additional level of pleasure to your golf game.
The course is very well maintained, moderately challenging on many of the holes, but some end spectacularly. This hole challenges golfers to get their approach shot or chip perfectly centered on the green else risk the sand hazard, bunkers, or water hazard. More gardens show up in the back ground.
We were paired with really a really nice local couple on vacation and had a nice time playing the course with them. Pace moved fairly quickly.
The golf course finishes at this beautiful hole (there's more sand down below). Those who choose to lunch at the clubhouse will find good food and the chance to see how other golfers fare on the eighteenth hole. Expect good beer, too.
