One of the reasons golf is fun is that people get to meet local people when they travel playing a game that they all enjoy.
Too many times we stop in a town, spend the night at a hotel, then move on. Golf allows people to relax and take the time to enjoy the local culture.
If I didn't go golfing at Oak Hills Golf Club in Columbia, South Carolina, I would not have seen the flower on this tree. How did I identify it? I did a search for South Carolina flowering trees, turned up many items but not this flower. Then I looked in Roger Tory Peterson's Guide to Eastern Forests. I found an entry that looked like this, maybe, listed as a tulip tree.
